Wanted to take this time to give thanks to God for everything I am learning and the heights that we are reaching.
Duke Univerity's June 1st Prospect Camp Mixtape
It's prospect camp season. Take this serious. I went to Duke's prospect camp and saw two 17 year olds earn over $62,600 in scholarships with a couple scholarship offers. There were over 400 athletes at the camp and two got verbal offers, but the amount of kids who got their foot in the door was countless. The goal at these camps should be to get noticed. Catch the eye of your position coach. He will be teaching their team philosophies throughout the day. Make sure you show that you are coachable by adapting from what you previously have learned to the new coaching philosophies. So for example, running backs, if your position coach at a camp tells you that they don't switch the ball, you better adapt quickly. Make sure to follow their directions exactly. This prospect camp is like a job interview. Even if you don't leave a camp with a scholarship offer, make the coach remember who you are. Do something crazy out there. It's really show time. You are competing for offers. If you get the chance to shine, don't let it pass you by.
At the end of the camps, their is a time that you can introduce yourself to your recruiting coordinator. Spend a few minutes with him introducing yourself and let him and your position coach know that you will continue to stay in contact. That is your key to stay on the recruiting board. Keep in touch with your coaches. Let them know how the summer training is going. How the start of the season is going. Build a relationship. Be tough skinned. Stay persistent about contacting the coach. Just thought I should encourage you to press on if things don't go exactly how you planned. Believe in your dreams. Nobody will fight this battle for you. People have their own agendas that they would much rather give attention to. This is something you have to make happen on your own.
It's possible. Make strides each day.
