An Underdog's Choice
UNC or Guilford College

Darius Graves
I originally met Darius through our performance training organization. He trained with Jimmy Lamour. It was my junior year of college and Darius was attending Dudley High. He is among one of the best running backs to come out of Guilford County. Underrated to say the least, Darius struggled finding college coaches willing to over look his size. Standing at about 5'7, coaches wondered if he would have trouble measuring up against D1 size.

Athletic Excellence
Despite his size, his skills spoke for him. His senior year of high school, Darius averaged 124 yards per game. I liked watching Darius so much because his story reminded me of myself 5 years ago when I came out of high school.

College Decisions Process
I remember speaking with Darius about his college choice. I think he had interest from UNC Chapel Hill, Liberty University, Shaw University, and Guilford College. It would seem that I wanted to attract Darius to my Alma Mater, Guilford, but my intentions were to allow him to make a sound decision. I know the Guilford staff was after him heavy because he was going to be a steal if they ever got their hands on him.

What UNC offered to Darius was just too much to pass up on. He chose to accept a  walk on opportunity at UNC with a few academic scholarships. He is finishing up his first year with UNC and seems to be doing well. A fine young man.

I have much respect for Darius and his family. I love an underdog's story.

As For Me...
Things are well. Not much to talk about this week. Very focused week, not much me time. I look forward to a relaxing weekend.

Thanks for reading,
