Again, let's take the time to thank God for the opportunity to chase our dreams. We all share the common goal. We all want success. And, as of now, we are all blessed with the opportunity to strive for our goals.
I won't be long. I want you to take the time to reflect on the first 1/4 of your season. We will do this again halfway through the season, but has this been the season you dreamed of? For some of you, yeah, it may be. It might be everything you dreamed about. For others, we've struggled for the first part of the year.
Look back over your season goals. Are you on track? If your goal was 1500 yards rushing during the regular season, have you been getting 150 yards per game? If not, you have to reconfigure your goals per game. You have to turn it up a bit. CJ Freeman told me that his goal for this season was 3000 yards. This is a huge goal to accomplish and he's not far off. In order to get 3000 yards he would have to keep up at least 300 yards per game. The first game he roughly had 230 and the second game he had 212. Although better than most other running backs in the state, with an average of 221 yards per game, he’s still not on track to reach his goal of 3000 yards. To reach his goal of 3000, he would have to turnover an average of 319 per game.
With that being said, you still have plenty of time to accomplish these goals. I am actually excited if you chose goals that were hard to reach. It will make you work that much harder but you have to stay true to them. My point is, don't readjust your goals. Readjust your approach to the games. Stay true to yourself and the things you at one point thought you were capable of. The point of this post is to get you focused back on the prize at hand. You are a quarter of the way done with the regular season. You have time to gain control of those dreams.
I don't know what your goals are but my goal is to put as many of you on a college campus as possible. My part during the season is to keep you focused on your individual goals. I know during the season, things get hectic at times but you have to hold on to the vision. You know what you need in order to make it where you want to go.
Now focus up. I've said it before: be willing to die on that field tomorrow night. No matter the outcome of the game, give me atleast 6-8 potential highlights. That's a great day if you can get that done. Everything after that is a plus. You know what you have to do to make it to the next level.
I love you guys. I feel that I am a part of this area. I play a role here. And that makes me feel awesome. I'll keep you guys on track to reach your goals. Just trust the process. I'll keep all of you in my prayers this Friday. I will be at the Grimsley vs High Point Central game to check out my guys, Jamiel Mack (HPC), Braxton McIntyre (HPC), and Malik Stimpson (Grimsley).
